The Dark Side rises in the first trailer for new Star Wars series The Acolyte.

Created by Russian Doll's Leslye Headland, The Acolyte marks our first live-action introduction to the High Republic Era — a time of peace 100 years before the Star Wars prequels take place. However, that peace is under attack by dark forces, ones which leave dead Jedi in their wake. A respected Jedi Master (Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae) investigates the murder spree, only to come face-to=face with a dangerous warrior from his past (Bodies Bodies Bodies' Amandla Stenberg).

The first trailer for The Acolyte is otherwise thin on plot details. But we do get blessed by scenes of The Matrix's Carrie-Anne Moss in full Jedi mode, promises of political intrigue, and a very foreboding look at what may be one of the first red lightsabers.

The first two episodes of The Acolyte premiere June 4 on Disney+.
