Anomalisa director Duke Johnson makes his foray into live-action filmmaking with The Actor, which is executive produced by Anomalisa's co-director and writer Charlie Kaufman (Orion and the Dark).

Based on the novel Memory by Donald E. Westlake, The Actor stars André Holland (Moonlight, Bones and All) as Paul Cole, a man stranded in a small town with no memory of who he is. As he restarts his life, he gradually learns new details about his past — including the fact that he was once an actor. In his quest to reclaim his identity, Paul also begins a romance with local costume designer Edna (Gemma Chan, The Creator), seen in the trailer in a glamorous clown costume.

As more of his past comes to light, Paul will attempt to find his way home. But who can he trust, and how reliable is what little he knows of his old life? Jump into the mystery by watching the full, dreamy trailer above.

The Actor hits theaters March 14.
