The Boogeyman already looks fantastic.

Based on Stephen King's short story of the same name, The Boogeyman follows two sisters, Sadie (Yellowjackets' Sophie Thatcher) and Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair), as they deal with a mysterious, supernatural entity haunting their home after their mother's passing. While The Boogeyman may seem like it ticks off every horror cliche, the opening of the film's trailer alone promises otherwise.

Kicking things off with a therapy session to help with her fear of the dark (or actually what's in it), Sawyer clings onto her sister as their therapist repeatedly turns a terrifying red light on and off. What Sadie doesn't realize is that with each second of darkness, the Boogeyman's getting closer and closer. And soon, he's going to be right under all their beds. With a perfect balance of suspense and jumpscares, The Boogeyman already looks like it's going to be a delicious plate of horrifying fun.

The Boogeyman releases in theaters on June 2.
