After that incendiary Season 2 finale, Debora Cahn's The Diplomat is back for another round of international plotting and simmering sexual tension, with a brand-new trailer out today.

Last season ended with a big ol' bombshell involving U.S. Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney), who landed one hell of a promotion with the sudden death of President William Rayburn (Michael McKean). With Penn now in the top job in Season 3, U.S. ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) knows too much about the new leader, and her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) was on the phone with the former president when he died — so all eyes will be on the Wylers.

As Kate and Hal figure out what to do with their red hot information and lukewarm marriage, tensions between the U.S. and UK rise, the new First Gentlemen (Bradley Whitford) arrives, UK Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) continues to be Kate's very close ally, and Kate's got one foot in the White House and the other in political quicksand.

Everyone kiss!

The Diplomat Season 3 is streaming Oct. 16 on Netflix.
