Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have cooked up a solid contender for awards season in the form of The Goldfinch, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Donna Tartt published in 2013.

Directed by John Crowley, the movie follows a young Theo Decker, whose mother was killed in a bombing. Theo's life is upended after this accident, which sends him on a journey of grief, reinvention, and love. All the while, his hope is tethered to a painting she loved called — yeah — "The Goldfinch."

The star-studded cast includes Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman, Jeffrey Wright, Aneurin Barnard, Finn Wolfhard, Sarah Paulson, Willa Fitzgerald, Luke Wilson, and Ashleigh Cummings.

The Goldfinch hits theater on September 13.
