From the creative minds that gave us 2018's The Favourite comes a new story of wacky royals, palace drama, and the secrets behind a great empire. The Great stars Nicholas Hoult as the ineffective Tsar Peter III of Russia and Elle Fanning as his wife Catherine — who will one day rule Russia as Catherine the Great.

The official trailer for the series shows the new royal couple immediately at odds and plotting each others' deaths with trademark Favourite-y flair, complete with bizarre parties, absurd costumes, and snappy dialogue that makes the emperors of old seem as cunning and relatable as modern day celebrities.

The Great premieres May 15 on Hulu.
