The Line is a proposal for an emissions-free smart city as a part of Saudi Arabia’s larger Neom mega-city project. The city is meant to run solely on renewable energy and if built according to plan will measure 170 kilometers (105 miles) long.

The project, however, poses troubling problems as it will displace thousands of Indigenous peoples including the Huwaitat tribe. Saudi Arabia is also among the world's largest petrochemicals producers, so while it may be planning an emissions-free city, the country still has work to do here.
