Avenge father. Save mother. Kill Fjölnir.

This is the mantra that drives Viking prince Amleth (Alexander Skarsgård) in Robert Eggers' upcoming film The Northman. The trailer shows young Amleth — the Scandinavian character who inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet — losing his father (Ethan Hawke), mother (Nicole Kidman), and kingdom to the treacherous Fjölnir (Claes Bang). Now an adult, Amleth seeks vengeance. But just how much is he willing to give up to achieve his goal?

The Northman's trailer is full of glorious Viking action, intense accents, and a delightfully witchy Anya Taylor-Joy, in her first collaboration with Eggers since 2015's The Witch. The film also stars Willem Dafoe and Björk.

The Northman is in theaters April 22.
