In Shanghai, a 15-acre shopping center resembling a forest-capped mountain has camouflaged an abandoned industrial site. Created by Heatherwick Studio, '1000 Trees' questions the way we tend to build and use shopping malls. The western part of the building has already been completed, while the rest is still in construction. At the front, the terraced building aims to support over a 1000 trees and 20,000 plants. The mall's back walls will serve as street art canvases.
