Following the disappointing news of a sales slow down last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook has embarked on a public charm offensive, most recently focused on Asia.

To that end, Cook showed up alongside pop music star JJ Lin in a YouTube and Instagram video posted Tuesday.

Using GarageBand on an iPhone and an iPad, the two tap out Lin's latest song "The Key" with the bustling city of Beijing in the background. The video clip is short. It doesn't really show off much of the software or the connection between the tech exec and the pop artist, but it does put a spotlight on just how hard Apple is working to woo the Asian market.

Just a few days ago, Cook was seen arriving at a meeting in Beijing alongside Didi Chuxing President Jean Lui. For those keeping score, Didi (the service some are calling China's Uber) is the company Apple just sunk $1 billion into.

In recent years China has been one of Apple's fastest growing markets, but with this latest major investment and now a direct pop culture appeal from the CEO himself, it's clear Apple is tripling down on its focus on China
