"I missed doing this," Tracy Morgan admits in the first trailer for his new Netflix comedy special, Staying Alive, which Mashable is debuting exclusively.

Seeing the comedian back on stage almost three years after a devastating traffic collision that killed Morgan's friend, James "Jimmy Mac" McNair, and left Morgan with traumatic brain injury, you realize just how much comedy fans have missed him too -- and how grateful we are to have him back.

Morgan doesn't shy away from discussing the crash or the injuries he suffered in the special, approaching them with his trademark blend of self-deprecating humor and honesty. In between laughs, he also shares heartfelt anecdotes about his family, including how his daughter's first steps inspired him to try walking again after the accident.

Morgan's comedy has often left us crying with laughter, but we're guessing there might be a few extra tears this time around.

Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive debuts May 16 on Netflix.
