Trevor Noah does not like the traditional "Happy Birthday" song, and he's not afraid to say it.

In the clip above, taken between scenes while filming The Daily Show, Noah explains he was brought up on a faster-paced, Donald Duck version of the "Happy Birthday" song — and when he heard the actual version that everybody else sings, he couldn't believe it.

"I was like, this is the most depressing shit," says Noah. "It is the saddest song."

He goes on to break down why anyone who hadn't heard that song before could easily mistake it for something more morbid — "like a song about [how] you're one year closer to death."

In fairness, he makes a strong case.
