Trevor Noah takes on the Fox News reaction to gun violence

Fox News has a lot of ideas about how to counter America's gun violence problem -- but not many of these seem to involve actually restricting the guns themselves.

In the segment above from The Daily Show, Trevor Noah responds to three possible solutions broadcast by the network in the wake of the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio: more God, more stability in families, and -- the old favourite -- more armed guards in schools and shopping malls.

After countering the first two ideas with points about varying interpretations of religion and the impossibility of writing "laws forcing people to have a good family life", Noah moves on to the"not enough guns" solution.

"For me the strangest part of this argument, honestly, is this," says Noah. "Hannity and Fox News talk every day about protecting American freedoms. But if everyone in America's forced to live in a world of perimeter fences, metal detectors and armed guards in every hall, then it starts to feel like society's living in a prison.

"And the only thing that's free, is the gun."
