Trevor Noah tears into Trump's lie about elderly protester injured by police

Donald Trump has made it pretty clear whose side he's on. As protests against police brutality sweep America and parts of the world, the president has spent his time reassuring officers they won't be defunded and angrily tweeting nonsensical conspiracy theories about elderly protesters. On Monday, he told a White House roundtable that 99 percent of police were "great, great people."

"Yes, 99 percent of all police are great people," responds Trevor Noah in the clip above. "And I guess it's just unlucky that protesters just happen to keep meeting with the bad one percent over and over and over again. I guess those guys work a lot of overtime."

Noah goes on to talk about how Trump always sees the good in the people he likes, and how the president has never expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Finally, he addresses Trump's recent tweet about 75-year-old Martin Gugino, the man shoved to the ground by riot police in Buffalo, who Trump decided to baselessly accuse of being an "ANTIFA provocateur."

"Trump is so desperate to defend the police that instead of admitting that maybe they used excessive force, and that none of them helped a person who was bleeding out on the ground, he turns around and blames the old man from that video for being an ANTIFA provocateur who busted his head open on purpose?" says Noah.

"Let me tell you something: If someone came up to me, with a plan that involved me busting my head open on the sidewalk, I would ask them to come up with a better plan."
