Beyond the friendly animated versions, trolls have long been an underrated source of horror.

Director André Øvredal's 2010 found footage gem Troll Hunter was one of the best monster movies of the decade. A couple of years ago, Netflix tried its hand at the troll game with Roar Uthuag's fantasy action film Troll, and the Norwegian film turned out to be the most popular non-English language film on Netflix in 2021.

The latter returns this December with a sequel, Troll 2, seeing Ine Marie Wilmann returning as paleontologist Nora Tidemann, facing another suddenly-awakened troll. And in the trailer above, it seems like there's not one but two trolls to cause trouble this time. Nora's reunited with the first film's political advisor, Andreas Isaksen (Kim Falck), and now major Kristoffer Holm (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen), alongside new allies played by Anne Krigsvoll and Sara Khorami.

Can everyone stop waking these creatures up?

Troll 2 hits Netflix Dec. 1.
