Wednesday was quite the day at the White House.

Donald Trump called an impromptu press conference, lashing out at Democrats after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi both accused him of throwing a "temper tantrum" and leaving an infrastructure meeting with Democratic leaders, and that Trump is currently "engaged in a cover-up."

In Rose Garden briefing, Trump openly told the press he won't work with Democrats unless they stop investigating him.

There's plenty to it, particularly in the lead-up to the briefing, so Late Night host Seth Meyers took "A Closer Look" at the whole thing on Wednesday night, something fellow late night show host Stephen Colbert did too.

"Why the Democrats are meeting with him at all is beyond me. First of all he's never kept his word on any promise he's ever made to them, and second, he's fighting Congress on literally every front related to their investigation," said Meyers.

"So why are you meeting with him? That's like responding to someone's birthday e-vite by writing 'I resent the day you were born,' and then still clicking 'will attend.'"
