Seth Meyers expertly mocks Trump for being his own whistleblower on Ukraine interference

On Thursday's episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, the host broke down the latest development in the ongoing saga of the Ukraine scandal. Namely, Trump admitting to doing the thing he's spent two weeks denying. "He basically just blew the whistle on himself," says Meyers in the 13-minute segment, before getting out an actual whistle to really drive the point home.

For days, President Trump had furiously refuted allegations that he asked Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rival Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. Then, in a characteristic nonsensical move, Trump told a bunch of reporters on Thursday that this was exactly what he wanted Zelensky to do.

"What happened here is very simple," says Meyers. "The president extorted a foreign country to meddle in the 2020 election, his staff tried to cover it up and then they got caught — and now he's admitting to it."
