According to the Council for Responsible Nutrition, vitamins and dietary supplements are an $122 billion industry. However, most people don't know that the FDA doesn't regulate supplements as strictly as prescription medications.
In fact, supplement companies don't even need to prove that the actual ingredients match the label. Most of the time, if you have a balanced diet, supplements are at the very least placebos, and at the most, something that might kill you.
