What's up with all the doubles in 'Us'?

There's a lot that still haunts us about Jordan Peele's Us, but chief among them is the sheer weirdness of all those doubles.

Which, as it turns out, is exactly why Peele was drawn to this story in the first place.

"The idea for this movie came from a deep-seated fear of doppelgängers," he says in the featurette above. "I love the doppelgänger mythologies and different movies that have dealt with them. I just desperately wanted to make my offering to that pantheon of evil double films."

The doppelgänger has represented any number of things throughout history, but, as Peele notes, they're generally a bad sign.

So if you ever happen to see someone walking around who looks eerily like you?

Take a page out of Zora's playbook: Run.

Us is available on digital now, and hits Blu-ray and DVD June 18.
