Vin Diesel's musical debut is perhaps the most COVID-era slice of pop culture imaginable.

The Fast & Furious star partnered with Kygo to produce a cheery pop EDM track titled "Feel Like I Do." It's a particularly sensitive song about falling in love — a sharp departure from the action hero's otherwise tough exterior. The song premiered on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and in the introduction, Vin Diesel told Clarkson that this was his artistic expression in lieu of acting.

"You, since you won [American] Idol, and till today somehow have maintained your authenticity," Vin Diesel tells Clarkson from a recording studio. "I am blessed that in a year that I would normally be on a movie set, as you know, that's not possible, I've had another creative outlet. Another way to share with you, my heart."

The message was met with applause from rows of audience members, who appeared on person-sized screens behind Clarkson. It's, uh, very dystopian. As the song started, the audience members began dancing along from their human screens.

Of all things to happen this year, this is far from the strangest or the most devastating. It's certainly going to be a head scratcher for historians to decipher centuries from now, though.
