Welcome to humanity's last stand.

In the final War for the Planet of the Apes trailer, the battle between man and ape comes to a climax. And though we've got a pretty good guess as to how this is all going to end, the journey there looks like a thrilling one.

Caesar (Andy Serkis) is leading the charge for the apes, as he has been for the past two movies. Meanwhile, Woody Harrelson plays the colonel commanding the human troops.

And surprisingly, he's got some compliments for Caesar. "You are impressive. You're smart as hell, you're stronger than we are," he acknowledges. "But you're taking this all much too personally."

Which, frankly, seems like kind of a messed-up thing to say to a species that's fighting for survival. Honestly, maybe humanity has it coming after all.

War for the Planet of the Apes opens July 14.
