Compulsion studios revealed a new trailer for its second game, We Happy Few, during Microsoft's E3 press conference on Monday. It gives a peek into a horrific Bioshock-esque world, where everyone smiles a little to big with their painted faces and everything is probably not what it seems.

It appears to be a world in which the main character decides not to take pills that keep him from seeing a harsh, terrible reality. The indie studio previously developed the jazz age puzzler Contrast, which was a launch title for the PlayStation 4. We Happy Few looks to double down on the darkness inherent in Contrast with some violence, face paint and a whole bunch of pill-addicted weirdos.

While a firm release date for the finished game was not announced, it will be available on the Xbox Games Preview on July 26.
