Where the Wild Things Are is one of the most beloved children’s books in American literary history (even though the wild rumpus was not so warmly welcomed when it was first published in 1963).

Since then, though, Maurice Sendak’s illustrations and story have been adapted in several forms, most recently for the silver screen in 2009, under the direction of Spike Jonze.
