You may know the theory behind washing your hands for 20 seconds, and you may know that there are many songs you can sing to fill the time. But what if you're still lacking in motivation?
Well, Will Ferrell is here to change that.
In the clip above from James Corden's Late Late Show Homefest special, the actor delivers a tutorial from his very own kitchen.
"I have been washing my hands obsessively as I'm sure all of you have, and they tell us we're supposed to spend at least 20 seconds washing carefully," he says. "A lot of you mark the time by singing 'Happy Birthday'. But you know, that's not the only song you have to sing."
What follows is pretty much what you can imagine, delivered with far more passion than we ever could have anticipated.
