Afroman issued an apology on Wednesday for punching a female fan in the face who walked on stage and danced on him during a show.

The 40-year-old "Because I Got High" rapper was arrested Tuesday night and charged with simple assault. He was later released on $330, according to police in Biloxi, Mississippi.

"I wanna apologize for my actions," Afroman told TMZ on Skype, adding that he will get treatment to help manage his anxiety. He also said the incident may have happened because he didn't get high.

"It was an early show. I usually play at night when I've had my dinner and I medicate, I get right, but it was an early show," he said. On Twitter, Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, said: "It is what it is."
