LONDON -- Unicorns might be the stuff of folklore and fairy tales, but they were very much alive at the Alexander McQueen AW16 show on Sunday evening.
In what's been dubbed one of Sarah Burton's most romantic collections to date, the runway was awash with sheer, sequin-embroidered tulle gowns and capes adorned with shooting stars and glittering moons.

In a move befitting of the show's dreamy nighttime vibe, Burton took the fantasy to a whole other level with transparent gowns appliquéed with sequin embroidered unicorns.
The look was described as a "surrealist kaleidoscope" on Alexander McQueen's official Instagram page and surreal it most certainly was.

Exquisite craftsmanship made Burton's chimerical collection stand out, reinforcing McQueen as the very pinnacle of luxury womenswear.
