The City of Austin just can't get enough of 2014.

A party and fireworks were scheduled to take place in the city's Butler Park on Dec. 31, but the city's website announced that the celebrations would be "postponed due to anticipated inclement weather."

“This decision was made for the safety and comfort of the entire Austin community, said William Manno, Austin's corporate special events manager. He added that Austin will be exploring "alternative dates" to ring in the new year when the weather finally decides to cooperate.

When asked how long that would take, Manno told Mashable it could be up to two weeks before residents will know when to celebrate New Year's Eve in Austin. "We have to look at a lot of variables so it could be up to two weeks before we have a date finalized," Manno said.

"We are meeting next week to look at available dates."

Austin is facing a wintry weather mix on New Year’s Eve, and expected "near-freezing weather conditions that may include high winds and precipitation."

Clearly, Austin will have more time to work on those resolutions.
