The Periodic Table of the Elements isn't exactly light beach reading.

Karyn Tripp, a homeschooling mom of four, recently decided that she wanted to teach her kids the table, without totally boring them to death. So she came up with a super smart plan. She would redesign the classic Battleship game to include the Periodic Table of the Elements. Instead of sinking a cruiser, you could finally sink your favorite post-transition metal, Livermororium!

Her kids quickly fell in love with it.

"I came up with the idea after we were trying to memorize it in our homeschool. We love the game Battleship and have played it before with a hundred chart, so this seemed to work perfectly. My son is pretty obsessed with chemistry," Tripp told Mashable.

To make the table, Tripp printed out two copies of the table, laminated them and attached them to file folders, which she kept at 90-degree angles.

Tripp stressed that kids don't even have to know about the Periodic Table to enjoy it. That's great, because I know some grown adults (cough cough, points at self) who barely understand what it is.
