LONDON -- Two men have been arrested for scaling the roof at Buckingham Palace where they unfurled banners as part of a campaign over fathers' rights.

The two men were campaigning for more rights for fathers in divorce and separation proceedings, BBC News reported.

London's Metropolitan Police force said officers were called Sunday afternoon to reports of a protest at the Queen's Gallery, part of the royal residence.

Police said "two males were found to have climbed on to the roof of the entrance." The incident didn't end until 11 p.m. local time.

New Fathers 4 Justice and Stop The War On Dads said they were behind the security breach and one of the activists told ITV News that getting to the roof was easy and they could have gone further if they wanted.

Britain's Press Association news agency said the men, Martin Matthews and Bobby Smith, were calling for more rights for fathers in divorce and separation cases.
