Cilla Black, a famous British singer, died on Saturday at her home in Estepona, Spain.

She was 72. Her death was announced on Sunday by Spanish police.

Black, who was born in Liverpool as Priscilla White, had a show business career that lasted around half a century.

Twitter users expressed condolences and remembered her for her talent.

PM: Cilla Black was a huge talent who made a significant contribution to public life in Britain. My thoughts are with her family.— UK Prime Minister (@Number10gov) August 2, 2015

Ah, not Cilla Black. Had incredible honour of meeting her last year - as lovely and friendly as you'd expect. RIP :(— Owen Jones (@OwenJones84) August 2, 2015

After members of The Beatles discovered her singing talent at Cavern Club in Liverpool, where Black worked checking hats, she changed her name and went on to sing huge hits such as "You're My World" and "Anyone Who Had a Heart." Both those songs came out in 1964.

By 1968, Black was already transitioning to TV.

She had a primetime BBC TV series that year and would go on to host TV shows such as the game show "Blind Date."

The Royal Television Society and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts both recognized Black last year for her decades-long contributions to the television industry.

Black had three sons with her husband Bobby Willis, who died in 1999.
