Now New Yorkers can remember David Bowie every time they're hailing a cab on the Lower East Side.

While many have paid tribute to the rock legend with original art, impromptu sing-a-longs and makeshift shrines of flowers, candles and album covers, some artists decided to mark Bowie's territory on the corner of Bowery and Houston in New York City.

Members of The L.I.S.A. (Little Italy Street Art) Project, including artist Cristina Guadalupe Galvan, climbed up the street sign during Saturday's East Coast blizzard to make the genius pun.

The name change turned out to be a perfect tribute. After all, Bowie wasn't just a boy from Brixton, he was also a New Yorker. And he probably loved a good pun.

According to Gothamist, the sign was still up as of Sunday night. Let's hope the city lets us bask in a few more days of magic, dancing David Bowery Street before they ruin the fun for all of us.

UPDATE: Jan. 30, 11:40 a.m. A previous version of this story incorrectly named Gregg LeFevre as an artist and member of The L.I.S.A. Project who participated in the event. LeFevre was only a passerby who photographed the signs. The article has been updated to reflect that.
