LONDON -- It's a sad day for The Carron Fish Bar in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.

The fish and chip shop, which claims to have invented the famous deep-fried Mars bar in the mid-1990s, has been forced to remove a banner advertising its invention.

The "birthplace of the deep-fried Mars bar" sign that hung outside the premises must be removed for - according to Aberdeenshire Council - "the good of the wider community."

As Carron Fish Bar owner Lorraine Watson prepares to battle the ban, here's a look at some of the tastiest deep-fried delicacies across the country, from London to L'Alba D'Oro (which is in Edinburgh, not Italy).
