I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife because I've had Demi Lovato's powerful cover of Hozier's "Take Me To Church" on repeat all day (yes, even while I muted the live stream during Wednesday's Apple event).
But in all seriousness, Demi used her Janis Joplin-esque growl to deliver the song's message, which is critical of religious organizations' views on love. Hozier's music video (below) depicts homophobic violence against a same-sex couple.
"Huge thank you to @ddlovato for doing this gorgeous cover of TMTC in the #LiveLounge today. Very Flattered," Hozier tweeted.
Like most artists nowadays, Demi is no stranger to covers, impressing with Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way" at this recent show:
Damn. @ddlovato takes on Aretha Franklin at her pre-#VMAs concert. What do you think, #Lovatics? pic.twitter.com/dObxDiyVJE— Brian A. Hernandez (@BAHjournalist) August 29, 2015
