LONDON -- There is something missing from your Christmas tree and we know exactly what it is.

Before little Princess Charlotte stormed onto the scene as the Royal Baby of 2015, Prince George was all the rage. And, if we're honest, he still is, especially if that Christening outfit is anything to go by.

There's no better way to celebrate the festive season than by hanging an adorable, handmade Prince George on your Christmas tree. After all, baubles and gold stars are so predictable nowadays.

Making the salt dough

Materials

Salt

Flour

Water

Step One

There are hundreds of salt dough recipes on the Internet, but none contain anything more than salt, plain flour and water. We followed Rainy Day Mum's recipe, but it's as easy as gradually mixing together the ingredients ensuring that for every 1 part flour, there is half a part of salt and water.

Step Two

Once you are happy with the consistency of your salt dough (not too sticky), roll it out and use a regular gingerbread man cookie cutter or template from the Internet to cut out your salt dough figures. Using a pencil, make sure that each figure has a hole at the top of its head to put the ribbon through.

Step Three

Dry out your salt dough figures by placing in a low-heated oven for 2-3 hours. Or, leave them sit out for as long as it takes to dry them completely.

Mix red, white and yellow paint to create a skin tone. Use the skin tone to block out your salt dough figure's face, arms and legs, being careful to leave white for sleeves and socks.

Step Four

Paint a pair of blue shoes on your salt dough figure and, using the wrong end of your paint brush, dot two white circles for eyes.

Using the same method as above, dot two white circles on each leg of the salt dough figure to add detail to the shoes. Then, mix yellow with a small amount of orange paint to create Prince George's hair colour - block out George's hair being sure to include his smart side parting.

Step Six

Checking that the two white dots are dry, use the same method to add blue pupils to your salt dough figure. Then, mixing red with white, add two blushing cheeks.

Finally, add detail to your salt dough figure using permanent markers. Draw in a black outline for the ends of your figure's sleeves and shorts, as well as adding a Peter Pan collar and lop-sided smile. Then, using a red marker, carefully draw in the embroidery on George's shirt.

Once all the paint has dried, tie in your ribbon and voila, one Prince George Christmas decoration.
