If you’re going to rob a photo booth the least you could do is smile for the camera.

The Batavia police are seeking a man suspected of stealing $75 dollars out of a photo booth at the Funway Amusements arcade and bowling alley in Batavia, Illinois, who apparently neglected to consider the fact that he was robbing a machine designed to take photographs of the people inside of it.

Reuters reported that during the heist, the photo booth snapped several photos of the man, which police distributed to the public on Thursday in hopes of identifying the suspect.

"With this machine, if you try to manipulate or damage it in any way, it snaps a picture of you, which is odd because it's a photo machine," Batavia police detective Kevin Bretz said to Reuters. “I don’t think he paid for the pictures.”

Though the alleged theft occurred in November, the machine was recently repaired and officers were just able to recover the photos this week.
