Fan Hack Adds 'Grand Theft Auto V' Character Swap to Older Game

While awaiting the release of Grand Theft Auto V, a group of modders added character swapping -- one of the new game's most talked-about features -- to its predecessor.

Modding group GTA X Scripting posted a YouTube video demonstrating how they could switch between GTA IV's main protagonist Nico and new protagonists Luis and Johnny added via downloadable content.

In Grand Theft Auto V, which will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Sept. 19, you can switch between the three main characters -- Michael, Franklin and Trevor -- as they move about lives in Los Santos. The game allows you to experience several different lifestyles and game areas with the gameplay addition.

The blog post on the GTA X Scripting website reported that after players abandon characters, they will wander the streets and evade the cops (if they're wanted, that is). The post also lists an incomplete code build, available for anyone to download and experiment with.
