LOS ANGELES -- We are Groot! No, seriously. We are all going to be Groot for Halloween, fellas.
The tri-syllabic tree is the top movie-inspired Halloween costume this year for men (though are we sure of Groot's gender, really?) while Maleficent is the top costume for the ladies, according to Fandango.
If we're just talking about just upcoming movies, Wonder Woman and Batman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are the top choices. The big winner for little kids on Oct. 31 will be Olaf from Frozen, and if you're getting the whole family in on a team theme and you go as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, keep a close shell-count -- there will be others like you out there.
Fandango, which loves to drop playful surveys and polls in with its movie-ticketing service, surveyed more than 1,000 film fans in the first week of October about which movie-inspired costumes they're planning to wear this year.
Fandango is also hosting a movie-inspired costume contest that starts today, with prizes including -- what else? -- a year's worth of movie tickets (and some cash, because have you seen what they're charging for concessions these days?). The contest takes place on Instagram with four categories: most original, spookiest, best superhero and best animated character.
