We already knew the richest among us control a higher percentage of the world's wealth, but a new study shows they also control a higher percentage of the world's beer pong tables.

That is to say: they drink more.

The Gallup study found that 64% of American adults drink alcohol. That number jumps to 78% for people who make $75,000 or more per year, and down to 45% for those who make less than $30,000. Much of the disparity is likely due to the ability to purchase alcohol or participate in activities where casual drinking takes place (the study names dining out and vacation as two such activities).

The study also reveals possible links between education level and alcohol-of-choice. Americans with a college degree are more likely to prefer wine to beer (44% to 35%), and those with a high school education or less prefer beer to wine (52% to 21%). That being said, beer is still the drink of choice for most Americans.

The highest percentage of alcohol consumers fall in 30 to 49 year old age group, 71% of which drinks. About 60% of millennials, or snake people, say they drink.

The study interviewed 1,009 adults across all 50 states.
