Instagram isn't just low-light food photos and #nofilter selfies -- there are plenty of accounts that will fill your stream with the diversity of modern life.

That especially includes adorable, queer-friendly families. LGBT parents often inspire followers simply by sharing slices of their daily lives, whether it's a tender moment before bedtime or adventures during their family vacations.

Instagram isn’t known for its users' hard political activism. The occasional hashtag may go viral, causing a momentary movement, but entire accounts aren't usually dedicated to specific causes.

Yet the way in which many LGBT families use the platform turns their accounts into a type of cultural activism, sharing their stories and connecting with followers on a personal, powerful level. Even if it's seemingly just a photo of two women with their giggly baby, the act of sharing that moment is a radical challenge to our ideas of a "normal family." And it's definitely a reason to tap the "like" button.

Forget the dessert snapshots and #iwokeuplikethis humblebrags. Every person, LGBT or not, could use a queering of their Instagram feed.

In honor of LGBT Pride Month, check out these nine users who are challenging a narrow definition of family.
