Justin Trudeau will be the first sitting Canadian prime minister to participate in Toronto's Pride parade, its organizers have announced, when he marches in it later this year.
Trudeau, who was elected as the county's second-youngest prime minister in October, will headline the July 3 parade alongside activists from Black Lives Matter; a number of Ministers of Parliament; trans activists Alex Abramovich and Susan Gapka; and Michelle DuBarry, the Guinness World Record Holder for Oldest Performing Drag Queen.

On his personal Twitter account, Trudeau said he was looking forward to marching again -- this time as prime minister. He previously participated in the parade as a candidate in 2015.

Pride Toronto also unveiled its 2016 Pride Month theme on Monday -- "you can sit with us" -- which organizers say "conveys a strong message of belonging and inclusion -- a sentiment that was heard in consultations with community members."
