A kangaroo named Buster decided to take in the beautiful fall weather on Staten Island Saturday.

Unfortunately, before it could grab a bite at a diner or take a ride on the Staten Island ferry, it was captured by police.

According to the New York Daily News, the kangaroo's owner was visiting a friend who lives in the area. Buster escaped from a backyard with a 6-foot fence by opening the door.

Buster is 4-feet tall and was spotted by the very surprised owner of an auto shop in the area, who originally thought he was a deer. After a reported 10 to 15 minutes of blissful Staten Island freedom, Buster was apprehended by police.

According to police, Buster's owner lives in Upstate New York where it is legal to own a kangaroo. Since the man was planning to return home Thursday, they did not issue a violation.

We hope you enjoyed your visit and were able to pick up some souvenirs, Buster.
