The Los Angeles Dodgers bloopered themselves into the history books on Monday night with one epic fail of a play.
It came in the sixth inning when San Diego Padres catcher René Rivera flied out to the Dodgers' center fielder Yasiel Puig. Puig caught it, getting the out, but then set the blunder in motion by trying to throw a leading runner out at first -- and totally missing his target.

The runner, Rymer Liriano, goes for second, and Dodgers' catcher A.J. Ellis misses his target trying to throw him down. That error leads to the runner on third, Yangervis Solarte, heading home. Hanley Ramirez tries to throw him out at home, and like his teammates, misses, which gave Liriano the chance to get home, too.

LA Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, who's been with the team for 65 years (since its Brooklyn days), could say only this: "Are you kidding me? Holy mackerel. That's embarrassing."

Despite this fail the Dodgers went on to beat the Padres 9-4.
