Grab your tallest heels and best sequin dress, Lady Gaga's "Applause" lyric video is finally out.
This comes days after a "pop music emergency" caused Gaga to release the first single from ARTPOP early. Originally slated for release on Aug. 19, the pop star decided to premiere it Monday after leaks began popping up online.
The video showcases a rambunctious get-together, complete with drag queens strutting down a club's runway, to the thumping beat of "Applause." Mother Monster of course appears, wearing the multi-colored makeup she revealed on the upcoming album's cover art.
Monday night, MTV News reports, Gaga showed up at a West Hollywood gay club, Micky's, to film the lyric video. She then spent Tuesday editing the footage in advance of the Wednesday night premiere. The self-shot footage brings a level of intimacy to the video: It's like looking through the eyes of Gaga as she kicks it backstage and around the club with fans.
The pop icon called for all of her Little Monsters to join her at the party in a serious of tweets late Monday night:
