After a popular run in Marvel Comics' "Ultimate" line, the character Miles Morales will officially take over the day-to-day duties of Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe.

According to the New York Daily News, the multi-racial teenager will be the titular superhero in the "Spider-Man" comics.

"Our message has to be it’s not Spider-Man with an asterisk, it’s the real Spider-Man for kids of color, for adults of color and everybody else," writer and co-creator Brian Bendis told the Daily News.

The Morales character stepped into the Spidey suit following Peter Parker's death in the "Ultimate" line in 2011.

Parker, the geeky high school photographer who's held the Spider-Man title for most of the character's existence, will not be left out of the loop, however. According to the Daily News, an adult Parker will take on a mentor role to Morales, showing him the ropes (or, in this case, the webs).
