Scorched Earth: Photos of California's North Fire

A raging wildfire northeast of Los Angeles moved through the Cajon Pass on Friday, before spreading onto the Interstate 15 highway.

Drivers were forced to abandon their vehicles and flee to safety, as the so-called North Fire engulfed the I-15. One thousand firefighters, using a bulldozer, three helicopters, seven airplanes, four water trucks and 22 fire engines, were brought in to fight the blaze, CNN reported.

By dawn on Saturday, parts of the highway were reopened.
