What seems to be the problem officer?

Ontario police are snow-shaming the driver of a car who they say was pulled over on Tuesday and charged with operating the vehicle with an obstructed view.

A photo the Ontario Provincial Police released on their Twitter account shows the passenger car covered in a foot of snow, with just one-third of the windshield cleared to allow the driver to see out of it.

“Can’t make this stuff up,” the police said in the tweet. “Driver charged today in Brussels actually driving like this.”

The offense seems to be a bit of an issue during the winter months for Canada, which has a portion of its Highway Traffic Act stating, “No person shall drive a motor vehicle upon a highway (a) unless the windshield and the windows on either side of the compartment containing the steering wheel are in such a condition as to afford the driver a clear view to the front and side of the motor vehicle and (b) unless the rear window is in such a condition as to afford the driver a clear view to the rear of the motor vehicle."

And in a Q&A on its website, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety reminds drivers to "remove snow and ice from your vehicle. It helps to see and, equally important, to be seen."

The police sergeant who made the stop helped the driver remove the snow, police said, but not after issuing a $110 ticket.

"Almost 28 years as a cop and five as a medic," the officer who runs the Twitter account said in a reply to a tweet. "Thought I'd seen a lot. Nope!"
