An Italian family was reunited with its beloved puppy after the dog fell overboard and disappeared.

Sailors with RYCC Savoia, a yacht club based in Naples, Italy, rescued the shaken labrador puppy, named Noodle, when it was found swimming alone in the Gulf of Naples on Oct. 24.

In the heartwarming clip, the dog managed to swim towards their boat and a passenger scooped the animal out from the water. Passengers immediately comforted the wet dog.

Club director Massimiliano Cappa tells La Repubblica Napoli that the dog was visibly exhausted, and his legs were nearly paralyzed from the cold. Once the boat came ashore, they warmed the puppy with a heat dryer. The sailors later received word that a family had reported its dog missing earlier that morning after it fell overboard a ferry from the island of Ischia.

Though the dog's owner alerted the ferry operators of the incident, he says they refused to stop and that Noodle had likely already drowned. The ferry company has since issued an apology.
