Music Hacker's Nerd Magic Makes Great Dance Beats

It has been a busy few months for dance-music maestro Robert DeLong. In January, he was voted one of MTV's Artists to Watch in 2013. On Feb. 5, he released his debut album Just Movement.

Catching up with DeLong before his show at Webster Hall on Feb. 15, we were delighted to learn that he has a secret Internet-nerdy side. He hacks video game controllers into instruments, has a fondness for Star Trek and an appreciation for a good ol' viral video.

He's even planning to release an interactive app to supplement the music video for his first single, "Global Concepts."

As a musician, DeLong has a unique ability to blend genres -- specifically, electronica, dub step, singer/songwriter and rock. The common denominator is that all of DeLong's songs will probably make you dance, or "fucking dance" as he phrases it in "Global Concepts."
