As the world still reels from the deadly attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, one small gesture between Russia and France is giving the world at least a little bit of warmth.
In a handover ceremony at the French embassy in Moscow on Monday, Russia gave France a new puppy -- a German shepherd named Dobrynya -- to be trained as a K9 police dog in honor of Diesel, the Belgian shepherd police dog killed during the Nov. 18 raid in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis.

French Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert called Dobrynya a "living symbol of the strong ties of friendship and cooperation" between the two countries, according to ABC News.
The dog is named for a heroic knight from Russian folklore.
