Comedian Seth MacFarlane, a two-time Emmy-award winner for his Family Guy series, will host the 85th Academy Awards on Feb. 24.
The show's producers revealed the host on Monday through usual methods but also accompanied the announcement with an unconventional YouTube video, in which MacFarlane tells the news to his father.
Most recently, MacFarlane hosted Saturday Night Live's season 38 premiere. MacFarlane's credits also include Ted, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. He was nominated for two Grammys in 2011 for his Music Is Better Than Words album.
"My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast," MacFarlane says.
